As part of a collaborative effort between the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, a Lottery management system aimed at simplifying the operation of lottery business in Nigeria is to be developed.
This was made known when the DG of the ICRC, Engr. Chidi Izuwah, received the management of the Lottery Regulatory Commission at the ICRC head office, in Abuja, Wednesday. Speaking further, he disclosed that lottery as a business is key to the development of modern societies as the enabling law allows proceeds there from to be used for good causes. Citing the UK where proceeds from lottery was part of the pool of funds deployed for the Olympics, he expressed the hope that a Lottery Management System will significantly improve revenues accruable to government. He listed other possible areas of collaboration to include the provision of mobile clinics and schools for rural dwellers, police mobile booths among others. Responding, Director General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Lanre Gbajabiamila thanked Engr. Izuwah for the initiative and expressed the hope that the collaboration between the two agencies will help to strengthen the delivery of its mandate.
