The proposed establishment of a military and para-military clothing and accessories factory at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) received a boost today with the presentation of a Full Business Case (FBC) compliance certificate for the project to the Hon. Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali by the Director General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, Engr. Chidi Izuwah in Abuja.
According to the DG, the project, a joint venture PPP between DICON and Sur Corporatewear of Instabul, will produce a world class military clothing factory in Nigeria to meet the clothing demands of the armed forces and revitalize Nigeria’s textile industry. Responding, Defence Minister, Mansur Dan Ali disclosed that plans are underway to establish a functional military industrial complex, lamenting that the country has not been successful in local production of military hardware over the years.
