The Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission (ICRC) has warned heads of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), against influencing those projects to their cronies or for political patronage.
Making a presentation to the body of federal permanent secretaries in Abuja, the acting Director-General the Commission, Engr. Chidi Izuwah, said PPP projects influenced to cronies may fail or not yield the maximum benefits.
He said the MDAs must separate themselves from such projects and allow the process to run transparently so the country can get maximum benefits.
According to him, all PPP projects should go through competitive bidding so that the best companies can be engaged and government derived maximum benefits.
Mr. Izuwah also noted that the process of selecting the transaction advisers is critical as those who don’t have the requisite competencies would eventually throw up PPP projects that are not viable or doesn’t pay the government and its people.
