The Ona of Abaji and Chairman FCT Council of Chiefs, Alh. (Dr) Adamu Baba Yunusa paid the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) a courtesy visit on 19th January 2018 at the Commission’s office in Abuja. He was received by the ICRC Management team led by its Acting Director General, Engr. Chidi K. C. Izuwah Snr.
Engr. Izuwah appreciated the royal visitor for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit the Commission. He shared with the visiting team how the Abaji area council of Abuja could benefit immensely from the use of PPPs in the development of infrastructure like world class health facilities, transit truck parks, etc.
He emphasised that using the vehicle of PPPs, Abaji through the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) could up-scale its infrastructure in such a way that countless jobs will be created across the value chain.
Speaking further about the truck transit parks (TTPs), Izuwah explained that they are public rest areas located off the road, designed to provide temporary rest location for truck drivers thereby reducing the possibility of the loss to life and cargo caused by accidents arising from fatigue. TTPs are places where truck drivers can get fuel, food, restrooms, shower and basic supplies like oil and spare parts as well as servicing and repairs of haulage vehicles.
Engr. Chidi noted that the TTPs can develop further into Industrial parks which are areas zoned and planned for the purpose of industrial development.
In his response, Alh. Yunusa thanked the Commission for the warm welcome noting that the Abaji Area Council was looking forward to receiving members of the Commission in order to further enlighten Abaji people on the benefits of PPPs, etc.
