The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) is to convene a PPP Affordable Housing Round Table which seeks to highlight issues around as well as proffer solutions to the housing delivery shortfall in the country. The event, scheduled to hold in November 2017, would attract stakeholders in the financing and delivery of affordable housing in Nigeria.

Ag. Director General of the ICRC, Chidi Izuwah, made this disclosure, while on a courtesy visit to the Millard Fuller Affordable Housing Site, in Masaka, Nassarawa State. An obviously impressed Izuwah, expressed the desire of the Commission to partner with the promoters of the project with a view to mitigating some of the identified bottlenecks in the delivery of houses to Nigerians. He commended the management of the firm for its creativity and innovation by which it is able to deliver decent homes to Nigerians at minimal cost and creating jobs for the teeming population in the process.

“ If one million homes can be delivered through this innovative model, it means a total of 37 million temporary jobs would have been created for Nigerians” he said.
In his remark, Managing Director of The Millard Fuller Foundation, Sam Odia, stated that the vision of the Foundation is to provide affordable housing to the vast majority of Nigerians regardless of ethno-religious persuasion, through nurturing innovative partnerships with organizations. Continuing, he stated that the target is the low income segment since according to a recent report, 77% of Nigeria’s working class earn N40,000 or less. Each building of two flats according to him, employs 37 personnel on a part time basis during construction.
